INDYCAR has released their format for the Twin 275’s coming up at Texas Motor Speedway later this summer, and released some interesting rule changes for the unique event. In a nutshell, the announcement comes down to three major rules for the Twins. The first is that each race will pay “half-points” in the season champtionship. The second is that the starting grid for race 1 will be determined by qualifying, while race 2’s grid will be determined by a blind draw.
The best and third decision is that extra engines will be allowed for teams to us in their back-up cars in the second race should their primary car get damaged in race 1. Clearly, it would be a let down if some of the top drivers go knocked out early in Race 1, and could not rebound in race 2.
